Staff and children at New Monkland Primary School Nursery in Glenmavis are celebrating after receiving a highly positive report from the Care Inspectorate. The nursery achieved 'Very Good' ratings across all inspected areas: Leadership, Children Play and Learn, and Children are Supported to Achieve.
Inspectors Praise Nurturing Environment
The report highlighted the nurturing relationships between staff and children, noting that children felt safe, valued, and supported to grow in confidence and independence. Inspectors recognized the nursery's child-led approach to learning, where children are encouraged to make choices, follow their interests, and shape their own experiences.
Outdoor learning and strong links with the local community were also identified as key strengths, providing children with opportunities to explore and learn beyond the nursery environment.
Positive Feedback from Families
Families spoke positively about the welcoming atmosphere and supportive staff team. One parent described staff as 'going above and beyond,' while others praised the strong relationships built across the nursery community.
Head teacher Mary Reid said: 'We're delighted with this report and proud that it reflects the experience our children and families have every day at New Monkland. It recognises the care, commitment and teamwork shown across the nursery and our shared focus on creating a place where children feel happy, supported and encouraged to thrive.'
Leadership and Continuous Improvement
The report also acknowledged the nursery's strong leadership and continued focus on improvement, with staff working collaboratively to reflect, develop, and ensure children receive the best possible start in their learning journey.
Councillor Michael McBride, convener of education and families, added: 'This is an excellent report and a real credit to everyone involved at New Monkland.
