Cesare Liberatore, an 18-year-old football fan, was killed in a horrific car crash in Melbourne, Australia, shortly after watching the Socceroos play the United States in the World Cup. Cesare's grandmother, Mary Liberatore, told the Herald Sun of an "outpouring of grief" from the local community. "All day they've knocked on the door – boys sobbing with flowers in their hands," she said. "I am absolutely gobsmacked. You can tell the measure of a person by the company that they keep. These kids – every one of them – are just beautiful." She added that she felt the need to contact schools to thank them for their support.

Cesare was a Year 12 student at Gladstone Park Secondary College and previously attended St Bernard's College. St Bernard's principal Michael Davies expressed condolences: "Our heartfelt prayers are with his family and friends at this time of unimaginable loss. As a college community, we hold all three young men and their families in our thoughts and prayers."
A GoFundMe page set up in Cesare's honour has raised nearly $50,000. It described him as someone who left a "lasting mark on everyone" he met. "He was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome," the page read. The funds are intended to support his parents, Zarr and Simonetta, during this difficult time.
