Six Live Active Leisure colleagues have been selected to volunteer at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, helping deliver one of the world’s biggest sporting events this summer. Taking place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, the Games will bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth as Glasgow once again welcomes the international sporting community.
Volunteer Roles and Assignments
The five successful volunteers represent a variety of roles from across Live Active Leisure and will support several different sports and Games functions throughout the event. Those selected are:
- Debbie, senior facilities manager at Perth Leisure Pool and Dewars Centre, who will join the International Federation Team for Bowls and Para Bowls.
- James, operations manager at Head Office, who will be part of the Sport Information Team for Swimming and Para Swimming.
- Amanda, receptionist at Live Active Loch Leven, who will also support the Sport Information Team for Swimming and Para Swimming.
- Bart, active schools coordinator, who will work with the Athlete Services Team for 3x3 Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball.
- Amelle, leisure assistant at Strathearn Community Campus, who will be part of the Spectator Services Team for Swimming at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
- Janine, fitness instructor at Strathearn Community Campus, who will be the Athlete Services Team Leader for Athletics and Para-Athletics.
Pride and Recognition
Being selected for a volunteer role at the Commonwealth Games is a significant achievement and reflects the commitment, passion and enthusiasm for sport demonstrated by colleagues across Live Active every day. Ahead of the Games, Debbie, James, and Amanda recently had the opportunity to try on their official Glasgow 2026 volunteer uniforms and pose for photographs alongside Games mascot Finnie. Everyone at Live Active Leisure wishes all six colleagues the very best as they prepare to play their part in delivering a memorable and successful Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
