Zohran Mamdani, a candidate for mayor of New York City, has called on the US federal government to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the city in September.

In a video statement, Mamdani said he did not have the authority to arrest Netanyahu but urged the federal government to do so. The remarks come ahead of Netanyahu's potential visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
