Gareth Southgate stepped down as England manager in July 2024 and has since taken on a variety of new roles outside of football management.
New Role at UEFA
Shortly after his resignation, Southgate joined UEFA as a technical observer. In this advisory capacity, he analyzes match data and tactical patterns for major European competitions.
Academic Career
He has also become a visiting lecturer at Harvard Business School, where his eight-year tenure as England manager is used as an executive leadership case study.
Media and Publishing
His third book was released in late 2025, and in June 2026 he fronted a BBC documentary series on mental health and societal challenges facing young men in Britain.
Managerial Future
Southgate has stated he is not actively seeking a return to management but remains open to future opportunities.
England's first match at the 2026 World Cup under new manager Thomas Tuchel is against Croatia in Texas, followed by a group stage match against Ghana in Boston.
