Lanarkshire Charity Hosts Armed Forces and Emergency Services Family Fun Day
Armed Forces and Emergency Services Family Fun Day Returns

Who Dares Cares held its Armed Forces and Emergency Services Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 28, at Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride. The event, which was free to attend, drew families, veterans, serving personnel, and members of the emergency services for a heart-warming day of togetherness and gratitude.

Event Highlights and Purpose

The sun shone on the fun-filled gathering, with donations collected to support the ongoing work of the Lanarkshire-based charity. Richard Nelson, secretary of Who Dares Cares, said: “We are delighted to bring our Armed Forces and Emergency Services Family Fun Day back to Calderglen Country Park. This event is about bringing people together, recognising the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces and emergency services, and creating a welcoming space where families can enjoy themselves while also finding out about the support that is available.”

Charity Mission and Support

Who Dares Cares is a dedicated United Kingdom Armed Forces and blue light services charity based in Hamilton. It supports veterans, serving personnel, emergency service workers and their families who may be affected by PTSD, trauma, isolation, bereavement or other challenges linked to service life. Nelson added: “Our Family Fun Day helps raise awareness, builds connections and reminds people that they are not alone. Sometimes the first step to getting support is simply having a conversation, and events like this create the right environment for that to happen.”
