The Pitt Season 3: Release, Cast, and Plot Updates for 2027

The Pitt Season 2 finale aired in the UK today, leaving fans eager for the return of the acclaimed HBO Max medical drama. The series, created by ER veterans, won the 2025 Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series and follows medics at Pittsburgh's Trauma Medical Centre during a single shift per season, with each episode covering one hour.

When Is The Pitt Season 3 Coming Out?

The Pitt Season 3 was commissioned earlier this year, ahead of the Season 2 premiere. It is set to debut on HBO in January 2027, following the pattern of previous seasons launching at the start of the year and airing weekly. HBO Max announced the renewal on Instagram with a video of cast members holding a number three balloon, captioned: "The work never stops (especially when renewed for Season 3). #ThePitt will return for Season 3 on HBO Max in 2027."

Season 3 is expected to feature another 15 episodes. It remains uncertain whether it will stream simultaneously on HBO Max UK and Ireland with the US release, though the UK launch of HBO Max raises hopes for simultaneous airing.
