The BBC has confirmed the release date for its new cosy crime drama The Hairdresser Mysteries, starring Sally Phillips, and it is just days away. The six-part series will premiere on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Friday, July 17, before airing on BBC One at 2pm the same afternoon.
Cast and Premise
The show features an impressive cast including Bridget Jones's Diary icon Sally Phillips, Coronation Street favourite Charlotte Jordan, You star Ben Castle-Gibb, Ackley Bridge's Sunetra Sarker, Holby City's Guy Henry, and Corrie's Wendi Peters. Phillips portrays Lily Petal, a high-end hairdresser who leaves the competitive city scene to buy a small village hairdressers at the top of a cobbled street.
A synopsis for the series teases: "Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she becomes the hub of her new village's secrets and revelations. Using her own brand of uncannily developed hairdressing intuitive, empathy and understanding, Lily begins to solve the mysteries of the village."
Character Dynamics
Charlotte Jordan plays Clary Coombs, Lily's sharp and methodical salon assistant, and the duo join forces to crack the village's most puzzling cases. Ben Castle-Gibb portrays rookie police officer PC Adam Watson, who develops a fondness for Clary. Sunetra Sarker takes on the role of village gossip Wincey Evans, Clive Rowe plays charity shop manager Lonnie, and Guy Henry plays eccentric antiques dealer Race Runard.
Guest appearances include Wendi Peters as newcomer Gloria Crudd, who is determined to make a success of her new ice cream venture, but her past may come back to haunt her.
