Ruth Langsford on Life After Eamonn Holmes: 'The Fear Has Gone'
Ruth Langsford breaks silence on Eamonn Holmes split

Television presenter Ruth Langsford has spoken publicly for the first time about her separation from long-time partner and co-host Eamonn Holmes, revealing she has reached a positive turning point after initial anxiety.

From Darkness to a New Dawn

In a candid interview with Woman & Home magazine, the 65-year-old star shared that the profound fear she initially felt has now subsided. Langsford and Holmes, both 65, began dating in 1996, married in 2010, and announced their decision to divorce last year. The couple were a staple on British television, most famously co-presenting ITV's This Morning from 2006 until 2021.

"Before, I saw darkness and was thinking, 'Oh my God, what's going to happen?' but now the fear has gone," Langsford confessed. She adopted a resilient attitude, asking herself, "Do you crumble? Do you lay down and die? Oh no, not I. I will survive."

Embracing Independence and a Future Alone

Looking ahead, Langsford detailed her newfound appreciation for her own company but confirmed she hasn't ruled out love in the future. "I haven't been put off having a relationship," she asserted. "I haven't even been put off marriage, but I'm definitely not actively looking, and part of that is because I've realised I'm actually quite good on my own."

She described herself as independent and quite strong, a realisation that took time but has led to excitement about the next chapter of her life. "It's not as scary as I thought," she added.

The Power of Professional Support

A key part of her coping mechanism has been professional counselling, which she began when the separation was announced and continues to use. "It is very powerful and very useful," Langsford explained. "It gives me tools to deal with things."

She praised her counsellor for providing a neutral, non-judgmental space. "She just listens and says, 'Have you thought about this?' or 'Why did you feel like that?' I think I know myself very well, so it has just been calming."

Since the split, Eamonn Holmes has begun a new relationship with Katie Alexander, a relationship counsellor. Langsford and Holmes share a 23-year-old son, Jack.
