The 24-year-old actress, known for her controversial role as Snow White in Disney’s live-action remake, performs the musical’s iconic number Don’t Cry For Me Argentina not on stage but from a balcony overlooking Argyll Street outside the London Palladium.
The staging choice means that ticketholders, some paying upwards of £250, watch the moment via a live feed on a screen inside the theatre. Clips circulating on social media show Zegler in full costume — a sleek blonde wig and flowing white gown — singing above the street as crowds gather below.
Reactions have been mixed. One viewer on X wrote: “I’m excited to see her, but not sure how I feel about paying that much to watch the most iconic moment on a screen.” Another described the arrangement as “a bit of a rip off”. Supporters argue that the outdoor performance reinforces themes of spectacle and political theatre central to Evita. One commenter noted: “It’s meant to be grand and distant.
