Pretty Woman and Sister Act musicals coming to Cardiff

Two major stage musicals are heading to Cardiff, with tickets starting at £22. The Wales Millennium Centre will host the stage adaptation of the 1990 romcom Pretty Woman in June 2027, followed by Sister Act in January 2028.

Pretty Woman comes to Cardiff

The musical version of the Garry Marshall film, which starred Julia Roberts, will run at the Wales Millennium Centre from June 8 to June 12, 2027. It features Mollie Rainsford, known for appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, in the lead role of Vivian Ward.

Danny Walters, who played Keanu Taylor in EastEnders, will take on the role of Edward Lewis, the character portrayed by Richard Gere in the movie. The production also stars Bernadette Bangura as Kit De Luca. The score is by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

Sister Act returns with Paul Chuckle

Sister Act will return to the venue between January 10 and January 15, 2028, as part of a new UK and Ireland tour. Paul Chuckle, one half of the Chuckle Brothers, will play Monsignor O'Hara, with further casting to be announced.

The show follows Deloris Van Cartier, whose life changes when she witnesses a murder. Placed under protective custody, she is hidden in a convent, where she helps the struggling choir and rediscovers her own voice.

More movie adaptations on the way

Other film-based musicals coming to the Wales Millennium Centre include Mrs Doubtfire in March 2027 and Back to the Future in October 2027. Tickets for all shows start at £22.
