Strictly Come Dancing contestant Cach Mercer was scolded by host Ellie Taylor during an appearance on It Takes Two after he tipped fellow competitor Delta Goodrem to win the BBC show.
On Saturday (October 17), Cach and his professional partner Maddie Ingoldsby impressed the judges with a Foxtrot to Theme from New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. The performance put them joint top of the week four leaderboard, level with Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, on 34 points.
Appearance on It Takes Two
On Tuesday (October 20), the former Love Island champion joined Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb and athlete Tabby Stoecker on It Takes Two to discuss their recent performances and preview week five.
Ellie confirmed that Cach is now part of the "ballroom boys club" following judge Anton Du Beke's comments on Saturday. She then asked whether he was "starting to feel like a front runner" to win the Glitterball trophy.
Cach brushed off the suggestion, saying: "No, I'm not starting to feel like that; to be fair, I can't because it is still really close between everybody." He added: "If I was at the top every week then I guess that would give you some sort of grace to say that but, I don't think there is a front runner in the competition so far."
Delta Goodrem praise
Ellie interjected that "anything could happen" in the competition, before Cach mentioned that Delta Goodrem had been absent from Icon's Week on Saturday.
Cach continued: "And Delta wasn't there, I can't lie, she is cold. Like, I would bet money on her winning," as Ellie swiftly interrupted: "Don't say that."
"I don't do bets," Cach confirmed, as Ellie appeared stunned and remarked, "Don't do bets, don't do bets," while gesturing with her finger.
Delta's return expected
Delta, an Australian singer and actress, is paired with professional dancer Kai Widdrington. The duo has consistently finished either first or second on the leaderboard during the opening three weeks.
However, Delta had to sit out Icon's Week in week four as she recuperated at home following a rib injury. She is expected to return to the dance floor for the live show on Saturday (October 24).
