While much of Britain shivers under blankets of snow and treacherous ice, actress Patsy Kensit has found a far warmer solution to the winter blues. The 57-year-old star has jetted off on a sun-soaked overseas holiday, sharing evidence of her escape from the chilly UK conditions on social media this Wednesday morning.
From Sickbed to Sunshine
Patsy Kensit confirmed she has left England behind for distinctly warmer climes, a move prompted by her recovery from a nasty bout of flu. For much of the New Year period, the actress was confined to her bed, forced to see in 2024 from home while unwell. Last week, she posted a photo from bed, writing: 'Still wiped out with flu but excited about this new year… happy new year to everyone.'
Now, having shaken off the virus, her priority is soaking up some Vitamin D. Taking to Instagram, she posted a picture of herself wearing a black bikini and basking in the sunshine. Her caption read simply: 'I need some sun!!' In a follow-up post, she showed off her moisturised complexion, telling followers: 'Just had a much needed facial… my flu has gone but my skin is sooooo dry.'
A Mother's Heartbreak
The actress appears to be holidaying without her two sons, James, 33, and Lennon, 25. James is from her second marriage to Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, while Lennon is from her third marriage to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. In a candid discussion on the HELLO! Second Act podcast in September, Patsy opened up about the struggles of motherhood and her sons leaving home.
'Being a mother has broken my heart, because they grow and they leave,' she admitted. 'I was so codependent on them to the point it wasn't fair on them. I could sense that in them.' She revealed she put too much pressure on them for years and found watching them leave home incredibly tough.
Her connection to her boys was so strong that during her time filming ITV soap Emmerdale as Sadie King, she would commute from her London home to Yorkshire to avoid uprooting their lives. 'ITV pulled me in at one point and was like "this is dangerous what you are doing,"' she recalled, referring to the long drives.
Privacy and Protection
Patsy also spoke about fiercely protecting her children's privacy, especially that of her eldest son. 'I always kept them out, away from children's premieres, I didn't want to open the door to them being photographed,' she said. This protective instinct extended to her work, often using the children as a reason to return home promptly from set.
Her holiday marks a stark contrast to the conditions left behind in the UK, where beleaguered Brits have suffered freezing temperatures, snow, and ice since the turn of the year, with forecasts predicting a worsening situation for many parts of the country this week. For Patsy Kensit, however, the focus is firmly on sunshine and recovery far from the winter chill.
