Oasis could be on the cusp of a massive homecoming announcement, with a 12-night residency reportedly being planned in Manchester. An insider told the Manchester Evening News that the legendary indie band is planning a mammoth residency at the Etihad Stadium for summer 2027.
Homecoming Residency Details
Manchester City's 2026/27 fixture schedule shows their final home match at the Etihad Stadium falling on Saturday May 23 against Aston Villa, with the Premier League season concluding on Sunday May 30 when the Blues travel to Sunderland. The MEN has learned from multiple sources close to the club and promoters that 12 nights could be confirmed later this summer, which is set to trigger an enormous scramble amongst fans desperate to secure tickets the moment the announcement is officially made.
A music industry insider revealed to the MEN: "It will be 12 nights at the Etihad Stadium across May and June. It's just massive for Manchester and for the local economy. They could even add more dates to that as well, there's talk of up to 20. The wider tour is also going to include a return to Knebworth."
Hotel Reservations and Festival Date Shift
The MEN was additionally informed by a separate source that a prestigious city centre hotel has been fully reserved from late May through June to accommodate the band and their touring party. This appears to lend further credence to the suggestion that dates spanning May and June have been secured for the tour.
Also this past week, Manchester's Parklife festival announced a significant shift to its 2027 dates. Traditionally staged over a June weekend, next year's event will take place in July for the very first time, on July 10 and 11. The announcement triggered intense speculation amongst Oasis supporters on social media who suggested that Parklife's shift to July opens up June for a potential major series of performances from Oasis in the city. Nevertheless, the MEN understands that Heaton Park isn't under consideration as a venue for the forthcoming Oasis tour.
Anniversary and Film Release
This weekend marks the one-year anniversary of Oasis' huge return to the live scene. On Friday, July 4, 2025 they played a spine-tingling opening night of their world tour at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, before the show then rolled home to Manchester for the mother of all homecomings at Heaton Park. A new film documenting their return will be released by Disney+ with a full cinema release in the Autumn, fuelling anticipation and demand for more live events from the band after that epic comeback tour.
On Friday morning, Liam added further fuel to the fire when jokingly replying to fans with football banter around the England v Mexico game. He told a fan: "You say that now but soon as we announce the gig next wk I mean next year I mean happy Christmas you’ll be running around like headless chickens trying to get a ticket so stop acting tuff." It led many fans to believe an announcement could be incoming from as soon as next week.
Bookmakers and Glastonbury Speculation
Bookmakers have this week added fuel to the rumours surrounding the band's comeback, with Betway providing odds of 2/1 on Oasis topping the bill at Glastonbury in 2027 as part of an expected world tour. Rumours have been circulating for a while now that the new tour will be announced in September - tying in neatly with the film premiere on September 11. Some fans are saying it could even be announced in the end credits of the movie.
