Cardiff Castle erupted during McFly's gig in the Welsh capital on Thursday evening when one of the band's biggest fans was invited up on stage to perform with them. Joel Oates, a 25-year-old Welsh TikTok star known for his joyful videos with his mother Clare Cerasuolo, received a huge reaction as he helped the band sing their hit 'It's All About You'.
Joel's Dream Comes True
Joel, who has become an online star in Wales and beyond with over 100,000 followers on TikTok, has a well-known love for McFly. His dream came true when band members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd invited him on stage. Danny introduced Joel as a 'good friend' and someone 'famous around these parts', prompting the crowd to erupt in cheers.
Heartwarming Performance
Despite the hottest day of the year with a red extreme heat warning in place, Joel showcased his brilliant energy and dance moves. He swayed along to the song with Tom and Danny, played air guitar, and recreated the band's famous jumps. Tom brought him to the mic to sing the last line of the song, earning a huge cheer from the sell-out audience.
Social Media Reaction
The moment has been widely shared on social media, with viewers describing it as 'so special' and saying they were 'smiling ear to ear'. Joel has been called a 'superstar' who 'stole the show'. Clare shared the video on their TikTok page, writing: 'Keep manifesting Joel and all of your dreams are coming true my boy. I'm so proud and happy to be on this amazing journey of life with you.'
Previous Meeting with the Band
This was not Joel's first encounter with McFly. Last year, Clare bumped into the band at a service station while travelling home to Wales. She told them how much she and Joel loved them and that they were disappointed to miss the band's headline gig at Swansea's Tunes on the Beach festival. The band said 'we'll sort you out' and later dedicated 'It's All About You' to Joel during the festival. He also met the band backstage, with Clare describing them as 'such lovely men' and feeling 'overwhelmed'.
