Love Island Bloodbath: Five Contestants Axed in Episode

The fallout from Casa Amor has resulted in five Love Island contestants being shown the door from the villa. Olivia Sanderson, Nevaeh David, Carlos Borges, Aaron Badibo, and Will Bessant were given their marching orders during Thursday's (July 2) episode after failing to pair up with any of the original cast members.

Simba and Angelista Drama

The latest instalment of the ITV2 dating show began with the repercussions of the Casa Amor recoupling. As Simba Kudyiwa returned with newcomer Mara Pirez, host Maya Jama asked how he felt seeing his former partner Angelista Gunda standing alone. He responded: "Obviously it's not nice to see." Trying to justify his actions at Casa Amor, he added: "I would be doing myself a disservice if I wasn't true to myself and open myself up to potential connections."

When Maya quizzed Angelista on her feelings, she retorted: "I'm speechless to be honest. I'm livid, I'm trying to hold it together," reports OK!. As the drama unfolded, Simba assured the Islanders that this isn't the end of the line for him and Angelista, declaring: "Me and Angie aren't done by any means and I want her to know that."

Newcomer Mara Defends Simba

With Mara standing beside Simba, Maya asked how she feels as the newest arrival. Defending Simba, she clarified: "He didn't want to hurt anyone. I'm going to give him grace and understanding." As Angelista took a seat, she started to become emotional and Maya whispered to her: "Are you okay?" Could this spell the end for Simba and Angelista?

Recoupling Decisions

During Wednesday's (July 1) episode, the girls assembled around the firepit and started selecting the boys they fancied coupling up with – with their original villa partner then either entering alone or accompanied by someone fresh. Priya Jaswal stepped forward first and switched partners after finding herself in a platonic arrangement with Aidan Murphy following a failed romantic spark with Samraj Toor. After chatting to practically every lad, she decided to pair up with Jordon Wilson. Aidan likewise chose to select a different girl and went for Martha Rothwell.

Following that, it was Mica Harris and Samraj who both decided to remain faithful to one another. This occurred despite flirtatious Samraj enjoying kisses with girls while over in Casa Amor. Meanwhile, despite appearing quite stable during the initial weeks, both Yasmin Shadlow and Lorenzo Alessi chose to pair up with fresh Islanders. Yasmin selected newcomer Tommy Stagg while Lorenzo decided to choose Julia Majchrzak.

Surprising Twists

Predictably, Lola Deal and Sean Fitzgerald both decided to stick with one another, but when Jasmine Muller and Kavan Murphy's choice came around, events took a surprising twist. While she chose to stay faithful to him, he failed to reciprocate her loyalty. Kavan decided to go for Charleen Murphy and escorted her back to the main villa. Maya forced Kavan to confess to snogging girls beyond the challenges in front of Jasmine and the group in an attempt to reveal how he had been behaving in Casa. Meanwhile, Ellie Chadwick and Finley Maddock chose to stay together, but the same couldn't be said for Angelista and Simba. Despite her decision to stay faithful to him, it was evident that his affections had shifted when he selected Mara.

Love Island airs Sunday to Thursday on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm.
