The Light in the Hall season two is almost here, packed with household names. More than three years after the first season aired on Channel 4, the psychological Welsh thriller returns with a new story set in the fictional town of Llanemlyn. While the cast is largely new, one familiar face returns.

Caryl - Sian Reese-Williams
Caryl Huws from season one returns as an aspiring journalist. She is played by Sian Reese-Williams, known for playing Gennie Walker in ITV's Emmerdale from 2008 to 2013. Reese-Williams has also appeared in Hidden, Wolf, Line of Duty, and the Channel 5 drama Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards.
Rhys Owen - Mark Lewis Jones
Rhys spent 20 years in prison after his activist cousin Llyr died in a 1995 bombing, but he has always protested his innocence. After his release, he returns to his hometown, which is now facing a new reservoir expansion protest. Rhys is played by Mark Lewis Jones, who starred in Keeping Faith, Chernobyl, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Crown, Baby Reindeer, and Gangs of London.
Eve Davies - Nia Roberts
Eve is Caryl's journalist tutor who encourages her to find a story she is passionate about. She was also Llyr's partner and had a child with him. Actress Nia Roberts played Linda Jenkins in Bang, Elin Jones in Hidden, and Della in Yr Amgueddfa (The Museum).
Robert Davies - Robert Glenister
Robert Davies is the head of Greenforge, the company behind the reservoir expansion plans that Llyr protested against in the 1990s. He is also Eve's father, complicating matters. Actor Robert Glenister played Ash "Three Socks" Morgan in Hustle, Nicholas Blake in Spooks, and Kevin Salisbury in Sherwood. He is the brother of actor Philip Glenister.
Mabli Davies Owen - Maeve Courtier-Lilley
Mabli, Eve's daughter and Robert's granddaughter, is a key player in the protest against the dam. Actress Maeve Courtier-Lilley has starred in The Red King, The Outpost, the Christmas film Champagne Problems, and Netflix's Run Away.
Hari Breckon - Tom Rhys Harries
Mabli's friend and fellow activist Hari Breckon is played by Tom Rhys Harries. He has appeared in Unforgotten, Suspicion, White Lines, and The Gentlemen. Harries will also star as Matt Hagen in the upcoming DC Comics horror film Clayface.
Gareth Breckon - Matthew Gravelle
Gareth is Harri's father, caught between deep community divides and division within his own family as protests continue. Actor Matthew Gravelle is best known for playing Joe Miller in ITV's Broadchurch. He has also appeared in The Bible, The Archers, Mudtown, and Itopia.
