LEGO Builds 22 Brick F1 Cars for British GP Parade

LEGO has built 22 working brick cars for every Formula 1 driver to race in this weekend's British Grand Prix drivers' parade at Silverstone, following the viral success of the Miami GP edition last year.

Each car is made of approximately 28,000 LEGO bricks, is fully driveable, and can reach a top speed of 25 mph. The cars were assembled at LEGO's factory in Kladno, Czechia, taking a team of 20 designers, engineers, and builders around 6,400 hours to complete.

New Format Offers Each Driver Their Own Car

Unlike the Miami parade, where teammates shared a single car, this year every driver gets their own vehicle. The previous event saw competitive driving that damaged several life-size cars, which had taken months to build. LEGO chief marketing officer Julia Goldin said: "We always listen to our fans, and it was clear from the 2025 Miami Grand Prix Drivers' Parade that both fans and drivers wanted more. We're back with a 2.0 version in a brand-new format, bringing even more fun and excitement to the parade."

Global Spectacle Expected at Silverstone

Formula 1's chief commercial officer Emily Prazer commented: "Last year, the F1 LEGO Drivers' Parade in Miami with the LEGO big build cars was one of the most memorable and talked-about moments of the season, capturing the imagination of fans around the world and showing a different side of the sport. This year, we're building on that moment to create an incredible spectacle for fans attending the British Grand Prix and those watching globally."

The stunt is expected to entertain hundreds of thousands of fans at Silverstone and a global television audience, despite the risk that the cars may be damaged during the race.
