Kynren, the outdoor spectacular in County Durham, has unveiled first images of its expanded 2026 edition, which now includes a new daytime theme park called The Storied Lands. The multi-million-pound addition transforms the 7.5-acre site in Bishop Auckland into a time-travelling historical theme park, complementing the evening show An Epic Tale of England.
New Daytime Attractions at The Storied Lands
The Storied Lands features several immersive experiences, including Victorian Imaginariums, described as an adventure through gas-lit streets of Victorian England; Land of the Vikings; The Trusty Steed; and The Lost Feather, a bird-inspired show. Another highlight is Legend of the Wear, which reimagines the Lambton Worm myth with water stunts and special effects. A medieval horse show, Fina, showcases extraordinary rider stunts. Visitors can also enjoy the Taste of Time Travellers Feast before the main evening performance.
Evening Show Returns with Spectacle
The original evening show, produced by charity 11Arches, remains a blast through English history, blending theatrical scenes, fact and fantasy—from invading Vikings to King Arthur myths—with colour, drama, flames, and fireworks. A cast of around 1,000 volunteers brings the production to life. Anna Warnecke, chief executive officer, said it is the biggest volunteer organisation in England.
2026 Run and Ticket Information
Kynren's 2026 season runs on Saturdays from July 18 to September 12. Tickets are available via the official website. The expansion marks a significant investment in the region's tourism, offering a full day of entertainment for visitors.
