In Monday's episode of Coronation Street, Abi Webster faces a parent's worst nightmare when her son Alfie is rushed to hospital with severe breathing difficulties. The cause is soon traced to a large patch of black mould discovered under Alfie's bed in the flat she rented from Idris Nazir.
Kevin's Violent Threat
As Alfie struggles to breathe, a frantic Abi and Kevin rush him to Weatherfield General. Carl Webster arrives at the hospital with some of Alfie's belongings, revealing he spotted the mould while searching for a teddy bear. He is convinced the mould is responsible for Alfie's worsening cough. When Idris bursts into the hospital, Abi unleashes her anger, fully convinced he is to blame for her son's condition. Idris claims ignorance, but Kevin goes further, threatening that if Alfie doesn't recover, he will make sure Idris stops breathing.
Idris Seeks Revenge
While Alfie remains in hospital, Idris's love interest Leanne Battersby and cousin Alya Nazir suggest that the previous owner of the flat may have known about the damp issue and failed to disclose it. This leaves Idris reeling, and he enlists Brody Michaelis's help to teach the former owner a lesson.
Abi's Legal Fight
Forced to pack up her belongings, Abi moves back in with Kevin. Later, Sally Metcalfe advises her to speak with Adam Barlow about taking legal action. Abi is determined to hold someone accountable for her son's illness, but it remains to be seen whether she will succeed.
