Fragrance enthusiast Zoe Cripps tested five of Kayali's top summer scents over a working week, counting compliments from colleagues and strangers to find the ultimate summer perfume. The brand, founded by Mona Kattan in 2018, is known for its diverse range of fragrances.
The perfumes tested were: Juicy Peach, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, Banana, Yum Boujee Marshmallow, and Yum Pistachio Gelato. Each was worn on a different day, and the winner was the Banana scent, which garnered compliments from four people.
The Banana perfume opens with a creamy, sweet banana note balanced with vanilla and coconut, evoking an expensive holiday suncream rather than actual banana. It was described as 'sunshine in a bottle' and perfect for summer, though not suited to those who prefer fresh or minimalist fragrances.
Runner-up was Yum Pistachio Gelato, which received two compliments. It features a creamy, salted-gelato feel with whipped cream, vanilla, and marshmallow, but with a slight freshness that prevents it from being too heavy. The other scents also performed well, with Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar lingering on clothes until the next day.
