ITV has revealed a new spin-off of the hit gameshow The Chase, titled The Chase Around The World, which takes the format out of the studio and across Europe. Host Bradley Walsh and The Chasers will guide six pairs of contestants through iconic cities as they compete for a £100,000 prize.
How the Game Works
The first episode is set in Rome, where teams must answer quiz questions, solve puzzles, and decipher cryptic clues to navigate the city and reach Bradley at the finish line. Along the way, they pass landmarks like the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. The last-placed team in each city faces a head-to-head elimination round against two Chasers; if they win, they stay in the competition.
Bradley Walsh on the New Format
Walsh described the show as 'The Chase... but around the world!' He noted the difference from the studio version: 'I've been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years! The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did.' He added that the competition became 'heated' as contestants overtook each other and even spotted rivals on the streets while collecting clues.
Emotional Moments and Contestants
Walsh recalled a particularly emotional moment when a devastated last-place team beat The Chasers to stay in the race. 'Their despair turned into such joy,' he said. The contestants include a mother-daughter duo calling themselves the 'Not so Dumb Blondes', sisters, a newly-engaged couple, a father and son, a father and daughter from The Family Chase seeking redemption, and two parliamentary friends who met just six months ago.
Where to Watch
The series travels from Rome to Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris, Zurich, and Athens. An ITV spokesperson called it 'an amazing odyssey of quiz... with real jeopardy and excitement.' The Chase Around The World premieres Thursday, July 16, at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player, airing weekly thereafter.
