The Malone family, beloved fixtures on Channel 4's Gogglebox since 2014, have endured significant personal upheavals away from the cameras. These include a romantic split, a life-threatening health crisis, and the loss of multiple family pets.
Tom Jnr's Relationship Split
Tom Malone Jnr, who left Gogglebox in 2021, began dating model Bryony Briscoe in 2020. The couple moved in together in Leeds but ended their relationship in 2023. Bryony announced the split on Instagram, stating she was 'in a committed relationship with herself.' Tom commented online, 'Leaving any baggage in 2022.' By 2024, Tom revealed he was dating Jahmiah Simpson. In 2025, he posted a photo of Jahmiah in a graduation cap and gown, captioned: 'In the last week this girl has modelled for JD, danced for both Drake and Partynextdoor at Wireless and then graduated with a first-class degree LEVELS! Proud of you @jahmiahsimpson_.'
Shaun's Horror Illness
Shaun Malone has been open about his health struggles, particularly a brain condition diagnosed in 2010. Initially suffering from sinusitis, he developed a life-threatening infection that led to a coma. On the 'Coaching From The Sofa' podcast, he recalled: 'In 2010 I got sinusitis and in some way, the infection found its way back to my brain. My brain started swelling and my skull started crushing it.' He collapsed at home and was told by doctors he had a less than 10% chance of survival. He was in a coma for weeks and woke up with brain damage affecting his memory and left side, essentially suffering a stroke. In a recent Instagram update, Shaun revealed he underwent further brain surgery, posting a photo of his post-surgery scar with the caption: 'Heatwave is a terrible time to be stuck in hospital until Friday. Brain surgery is deffo not the highlight of my year.'
Family Heartbreak from Pet Deaths
The Malones, known for appearing on Gogglebox with their Rottweilers, have experienced the loss of four dogs since 2018. In October 2025, they shared a photo on Instagram of their late dogs Bobby, Dave, Izzy, and Lucy with the caption: 'Awww Bobby, Dave, Izzy and Lucy Gone but never forgotten.' Son Shaun announced in June 2025 that beloved dog Bob had passed away, writing: 'Today is the day we had to say goodbye to big Bob, an absolutely great dog like a big cuddly bear.' Bob's death followed the losses of boxer Frank in 2018, Lucy in 2022, and Dave in 2023.
