Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) has stunned his protective friend Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) by making a shocking decision in Emmerdale – hiring his biological father Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) to work in the local café. However, the kind-hearted young man may soon come to regret his choice as those around him express their dismay.
Lewis Gives Kev a Second Chance
Despite being kidnapped and held to ransom by Kev's ex-girlfriend Kylie, Lewis has decided to forgive and forget. Kev's arrival in the village was far from smooth – his ex Kylie kidnapped Lewis over a diamond made from a dead cat's ashes, traumatising the teenager by feeding him chicken dinosaurs and potato smiley faces. Lewis was eventually rescued when his half-brother Ross Barton (Michael Parr) knocked Kev unconscious and traded him for Lewis.
After learning the truth about his biological father, Lewis initially wanted nothing to do with Kev. However, after a heartfelt rendition of 'Father and Son' and some tough love from Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson), who confiscated Kev's cheese toasties for his pathetic parenting attempt, Kev decided to try again. Lewis's pure heart led him to give Kev a second chance.
Nicola and Ross React with Horror
Nicola, who has become a fierce protector of Lewis, is shocked and appalled when she learns of his decision. She had been feeling guilty and worried for Lewis after the kidnapping ordeal, but now she fears he is making a huge mistake. Ross, who wants Kev gone for good, is equally unimpressed. Even Claudette, who welcomed Kev back with open arms, may have doubts.
Lewis tells Nicola he has made a huge decision and recruited his dad to work in the café. Everyone is stunned, and it isn't long before Lewis himself starts to wonder if he has made a mistake. The question remains: will he live to regret it?
What's Next for Lewis and Kev?
As Kev settles into his new role at the café, tensions are likely to rise. With Ross already threatening to take matters into his own hands and Nicola watching like a hawk, Lewis's good intentions could backfire spectacularly. Viewers will have to tune in to see if this father-son reunion ends in disaster or redemption.
