Emmerdale Confirms Serena and John Truth, Another Big Twist Follows
Emmerdale: Serena and John Truth Revealed, New Twist

Emmerdale's July 20 episode delivered another major twist involving Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) and John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). After being asked to leave Emmerdale Farm last week, Serena returned today to explain her side of the story, but the episode ended with her revealed as the thief who stole a USB stick from Home Farm.

Serena's Explanation and Robert's Decision

Last week, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) discovered images on Serena's phone showing her with John Sugden in December 2025, while John was on the run. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) were shocked, as Serena had claimed she hadn't seen John for years. Despite her attempts to explain, she was forced to leave the farm.

In today's episode, Serena found refuge at Charity Dingle's (Emma Atkins). Charity convinced her that Robert and Aaron deserved to hear her side. When Serena returned to Emmerdale Farm, she encountered Ross Barton (Michael Parr) accusing Robert and Aaron of breaking into Home Farm. Serena defused the situation by pointing out Ross's lack of evidence.

Serena then revealed that John visited her family's farm after leaving the army, and she didn't think much of it when he appeared in December. However, when her mother saw John on the news and learned he was wanted for horrific crimes, everything changed. Serena explained that John's charm made him easy to trust, a pattern many Emmerdale residents experienced. Recognizing this, Robert allowed Serena to stay, and she promised not to let them down again.

The USB Stick Twist

Meanwhile, at Home Farm, Ross reported failing to identify the burglar. Kim Tate (Claire King) revealed that a USB stick had been stolen. The episode's final scene showed Serena alone with her laptop, browsing folders on the stolen USB stick.

The USB stick previously contained footage of Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) killing John, recorded by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). However, that footage was deleted by Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley). It remains unclear what Serena is searching for or if she knows about the footage.

This twist raises questions about Serena's true motives and whether she has a hidden agenda. Viewers are left wondering what secrets the USB stick holds and how Serena's actions will impact the Sugden and Dingle families.
