When you've been married for as long as Jimmy and Nicola King (Nick Miles and Nicola Wheeler) have in Emmerdale, there's bound to come a point where things feel a little bit dull. The couple tied the knot back in 2010, which means they've been through a great deal of challenges together.
Lately, Nicola has been feeling as though her marriage to Jimmy has gone a bit stale. Irritated, Nicola told Jimmy how she was feeling and, for a brief moment, it spurred him into action.
Jimmy's Attempts to Reconnect
He arranged a date, but that quickly went south when Jimmy revealed to Nicola that they'd be spending the evening at the local pub. Jimmy tried to claw things back with a jewellery gift, but that just saw him accused of cheating.
But at the end of the day, Nicola loves daft Jimmy. No way would she consider leaving him, which meant it was important to think of ways they could reconnect.
Vow Renewal Discussion
In the pub, Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) was busy discussing his wedding plans. His big dream is to tie the knot with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) in Bali and ever since Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) said that he'd find the money to pay for the do, Lewis has been scrolling the Emmerdale equivalent of Pinterest, filling his head with ideas for the big day.
Topic of conversation then turned to vow renewals and the possibility of Nicola renewing hers with Jimmy. She thought the idea was a bit naff, but Lewis said that the event could be a wonderful way for her and Jimmy to show each other how much they really care.
Impending Tragedy
Nicola definitely pondered over the idea – will she get to work planning something? Even if she does, tragedy appears to be waiting for the Kings, as Jimmy is reportedly being killed off after 22 years.
