The flash forward featuring Cain Dingle standing at a grave showed him wearing a long winter coat, but when the scene actually aired months later, Cain was dressed in different attire, prompting viewers to question the change.
The Five Flash Forwards and Their Resolutions
At the start of 2025, Emmerdale kicked off the year with five flash forwards that left fans guessing for months. The scenes included a hand trapped under ice, Caleb flatlining in hospital, Cain standing at someone's grave, a body bag being thrown into water, and Mackenzie running through the woods.
Throughout the year, viewers learned that Amy Wyatt was the hand trapped under ice after falling through during the Valentine's limo crash. Caleb flatlined after Joe Tate staged a kidnapping to take his kidney. The body thrown into the water was Nate Robinson, and Mack was fleeing from John Sugden after discovering John had killed Nate. Cain was standing by Nate's grave after the truth emerged that Nate had been murdered and dumped in the lake, contrary to the belief that he had left for Shetland.
John Sugden's Return and Death
John Sugden fled the village after his lies were exposed but returned desperate to kill Robert and win Aaron back. The situation escalated when Aaron held John at gunpoint during a reckless drive. In ITV's crossover episode Corriedale, they collided head-on with Corrie's Becky Swain's car. Maybe they had to change it, the original was him in funeral attire long black coat in I think the snow, in present what we saw was him and Tracy in the sunshine. I guess because of the weather couldn’t do it exactly the same or retconned it. Always annoyed me the other’s exact same."
