Emmerdale aired the apparent death of Dr. Caitlin Todd, but some viewers are convinced the villain is still alive. On Sunday (August 9), the surgeon (Caroline Harker) confronted Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) after Charity's harrowing sexual assault.
Charity insisted that her attacker leave Jacob's Fold, but the wicked doctor declined and seized Charity's phone to prevent her from calling for help. Todd threatened legal action against Charity for defamation and continued to deny her actions. She also threatened to reveal to Charity's granddaughter, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), that her infant daughter is actually the biological child of Charity and Ross Barton (Mike Parr).
Violent Confrontation
This provoked Charity's rage, and she restrained Todd on the sofa, grasping her hair, before delivering a passionate monologue about who the genuine deceiver is. She pressed Todd to admit to her sexual offence and recognise that there are additional victims of her appalling conduct.
During the heated confrontation, Sarah Sugden slipped quietly into Charity's home and was left horrified. The situation escalated when Sarah pushed Todd in an attempt to get her out of the house. But Todd slipped and banged her head on a table, and remained unconscious on the floor.
Aftermath and Suspicion
On Monday (August 10), Sarah desperately clung to the hope that Todd could be revived after the horrifying accident and tried to give CPR. Charity announced that she is dead, and they will have to pick up the pieces.
Aware that Todd has been causing trouble for Charity again, concerned Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) popped in by chance and was stunned to spot the malicious medic's dead body. Serena suggested reporting Todd's death to the police but sticking closely to the story that Sarah lashed out in self-defense.
Aware that any delay in reporting Todd's demise would look suspicious, Sarah and Charity had only a short time to get their story straight. The episode closed as the emergency services arrived, and without Todd being declared dead by a paramedic, some Emmerdale fans think she is still alive.
Fan Reactions
Taking to Facebook, one fan asked: "Is she dead though?" while a second predicted: "I don’t think she’s dead." A third chimed in: "If she recovers she'll be angry and more determined than ever to spill the beans to Sarah."
"Hope she doesn’t die, poor Sarah," pleaded one viewer as another added: "They will move her out of the house !!!…and if she is not dead, then she will make her own way back to 'pay them back '!!!!…"
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
