Coronation Street has revealed that Audrey Roberts has a new boyfriend in a fresh update on the beloved character, played by Sue Nicholls. The update came during Monday's episode (July 20) after months of absence from the soap.

In the episode, the Platt family gathered to record a video message for Audrey's birthday. Harry Platt told Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon): "We're doing a video for Granny Audrey, to show her new boyfriend." Bethany then asked: "This new boyfriend, is he French and is he rich?" David (Jack P. Shepherd) quipped back: "What do you think?" hinting that the new man is indeed wealthy.

Audrey Roberts, portrayed by Sue Nicholls, is a television icon who first appeared on Coronation Street in 1979 as the mother of Gail (Helen Worth). Over the years, audiences have experienced heartache and happiness alongside Audrey, including her marriage to Alf Roberts (Bryan Mosley) in 1985 and his death in 1999. She later had a relationship with butcher Fred Elliott (John Savident) and was engaged to former male escort and fraudster Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers), who died suddenly in 2019.
