Corrie Stars Brave Heat for Something Rotten Premiere

A string of Coronation Street stars braved the scorching temperatures sweeping across Manchester and the rest of the UK this week for the UK premiere of the musical Something Rotten. The celebrities headed to Manchester's Opera House earlier this week for the UK premiere of the comedy musical, with Manchester's own Jason Manford as its leading man, officially opened.

Star-Studded Attendance

Among the attendees were Catherine Tyldesley, Gareth Pierce, Amy Robins, Jodie Prenger, Tony Maudsley, and Harriet Bibby. The musical also stars Richard Fleeshman, who played Craig Harris in Corrie between 2002 and 2006. Fleeshman was also in the cast during the world premiere run of Ghost the musical back in 2011, which became a defining moment for the actor at the age of just 21, fresh from his departure from the ITV soap.

About Something Rotten

Something Rotten is set in Shakespearean times, with a blistering set of song and dance numbers. Its world premiere run was on New York's Broadway, and it will be in Manchester for a month before hopes that it will transfer to the West End. The cast also includes American musicals star Marisha Wallace as the show's leading lady Bea — a role she performed in the original Broadway production.

We cried laughing! WHAT a show!" Castmate Tony Maudsley concurred, with the George Shuttleworth actor sharing: "We had a Corrie night out and had the best time seeing SOMETHING ROTTEN at The Manchester Opera House last night. Absolutely brilliant and worth going to see if you're in the area. So so good!! And hilarious too! Highly recommend! In fact I might go again!!!"
