Coronation Street: Lauren Upsets Betsy Over Dylan After Stroke

Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is struggling to adjust to life after a stroke in Coronation Street, and her friend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) is making things worse by pressuring her over Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).

Betsy collapsed at home last week due to a stroke caused by consensual strangulation during sex. The stroke has left her with aphasia and dysarthria, affecting her movement and communication. Doctors say a full recovery is possible given her age, but the road is tough.

Physiotherapy Struggles

In Thursday's episode, Betsy was unhappy with her progress in physiotherapy, struggling to straighten the fingers on her right hand. Though the physiotherapist was pleased, Betsy felt down.

Things worsened when Lauren arrived and Betsy had to rely on her to get to the bathroom. Tearful Betsy expressed humiliation, and Lauren tried to reassure her that Betsy would do the same for her. However, Lauren then asked why Betsy hadn't reported Dylan to the police.

Lauren's Stance on Dylan

Lauren has made clear her belief that Dylan deserves to face justice for injuring Betsy during sex. Betsy doesn't want to get him into trouble and ordered Lauren to leave when she wouldn't drop the conversation.

Actress Sydney Martin previously told Metro: 'You understand Betsy’s situation. She’s obviously devastated with what’s happened to her. Within the first 24-48 hours, there’s so much going on. Physio can start within those 24-48 hours, because of the right-side paralysis. So, she’s balancing all this, and then to have that on top of this tug of war, and everyone putting their two pence in…'

It remains to be seen if Betsy and Lauren can overcome this disagreement or if their friendship is over.
