Coronation Street is reportedly preparing a 'life-changing' storyline for Betsy Swain, weeks after hints of a 'coming of age' plot for the ITV soap character, amid exit speculation.
Betsy Swain's 'Life-Changing Incident'
Betsy Swain on Coronation Street could soon take centre stage, according to new spoilers. A publication has claimed that this summer, a 'life-changing incident' is on the horizon for the character. Just weeks ago, it was reported that Betsy would feature in a 'coming of age' storyline.
Now, it is suggested that an incident occurs, with the publication questioning whether Betsy's family can help the 'struggling teen'. This follows exit rumours sparked by recent spoilers.
We know that Betsy has been offered a place at a fashion college in London. Betsy is keen to pursue this, while fans wondered if it meant a temporary or permanent exit for her.
Exit Rumours and Future Plans
As it stands, Betsy is not leaving the soap. So perhaps this latest spoiler, released by TV Times magazine, could indicate what keeps her in Weatherfield. It does not state what specifically happens, only that it is 'life-changing'. The publication also notes she needs support in the fallout. Corrie has not given anything away yet regarding this plot, so only the publication's comments are available.
Their spoiler reads that Betsy is in 'turmoil', before adding: 'Life’s never quiet for the Connor-Swains. Mere months after Carla (Alison King) and Lisa (Vicky Myers) tied the knot, there’s a life-changing incident for Betsy (Sydney Martin, above). Can the family pull together to help the struggling teen come to terms with what has happened?' So what happens to Betsy, and will it dash her hopes for fashion college?
Other Spoilers: Secrets Exposed
It comes as spoilers revealed two characters could find their secrets exposed next week. Gary and Sarah’s secretive behaviour has had fans guessing for weeks. Their private chats and sudden closeness have not gone unnoticed by Weatherfield residents either.
All will be revealed, however, as a dramatic dinner party, hosted by Sarah’s partner Kit Green, sees Maria publicly accusing Gary and Sarah of having an affair. Gary is also forced to defend himself to detective Kit, who accuses him of being linked to Theo Silverton’s murder, after a recent flashback placed him at the scene of the crime.
Despite Kit’s murder theory, Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria, says her character is adamant she has rumbled Gary’s big secret. Samia, 43, tells us: 'She’s known for a few weeks that something is definitely not right between her and Gary. She’s been clocking these little sneaky conversations he’s been having with Sarah, and she’s put two and two together. She’s just convinced that they must be sleeping together.'
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
