While Chris's jump proceeded smoothly, Bec's parachute malfunctioned. 'My tandem guy pulled the parachute - the parachute opened and tore off. It ripped off and went flying through the sky, and we started falling to the ground again,' she described. Watching from below, Chris was told by his instructor, 'Oh, there goes your friend,' with the added grim prognosis, 'This is where it ends.'
