Hannah Waddingham has turned down a place on The Celebrity Traitors, despite the chance to appear alongside her Ted Lasso co-star Nick Mohammed. The actress, who plays football club owner Rebecca Welton in the sitcom, said she was also asked to join the first series but was too frightened.
Why she said no
Waddingham, 52, said: "I was asked to be on the first Celebrity Traitors in the UK. My great buddy Nick Mohammed from Ted Lasso is on it and I nearly did because I knew he was going to be on it, but I'm a great big scaredy cat."
She added: "This whole thing with the hoods and burying people alive - I don't care whether there's a crew there or not - hell no. No. No. I'm going to watch at home with a nice red wine and some crisps."
Mohammed's experience
Mohammed, 46, reached the final of the series last year before being beaten by traitor Alan Carr. He revealed he was allowed only one call with his wife Becky and two sons, Finn and Arthur, each day during filming, and the calls were monitored.
He said: "I was allowed once a day to FaceTime them, but only with the producers listening into the phone calls. Because if anything gets out, the game was over, really."
Mohammed added: "So that was the most difficult thing, and not being able to tell them exactly when I would be going because I didn't know - I could be back in 48 hours, I could be gone in three weeks, which turned out I was."
Cast reunion
Mohammed also told the Table Manners podcast that the 2025 celebrity cast has kept in touch and held a reunion since filming. He said: "Jonathan (Ross) organised a reunion, which I sadly couldn't make. We have a WhatsApp group, which is great. I've seen Joe Marler a fair bit, I've seen Claudia (Winkleman), and there are other people I've seen too."
The Celebrity Traitors can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
