Action fans are in for a treat tonight as Film4 airs a double bill of Vin Diesel's xXx films. The 2002 original, starring Diesel as extreme sports enthusiast turned NSA spy Xander Cage, kicks off at 10:45pm, followed by the sequel xXx: State of the Union at 1:15am.
The first film follows Cage on a mission to Central Europe to infiltrate a group of suspected Russian terrorists. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Asia Argento, and Marton Csokas. Despite mixed critical reviews, the film was a box office success and spawned two sequels.
Fans have praised the original for its thrilling action and twists. One Rotten Tomatoes user called it "a fun watch" and "solid," while another described it as "one of Vin Diesel's better roles." The sequel, which sees Ice Cube replace Diesel as the lead, has divided opinion, with some calling it "the best of the trilogy" and others finding it inferior.
Both films are set to air on Film4 tonight, offering a late-night action marathon for viewers.
