Celebrity Traitors winners Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft have revealed they worried they had spoiled the result weeks before the final aired last night.
The pair defeated traitors King Kenny and Maya Jama to split the £83,000 prize pot for their chosen charities in a finish that remained uncertain until the very end.
Dinner in central London
Filming for the series wrapped up months ago, with the cast bound by strict NDAs to prevent spoilers. However, some were more careful than others. Richard E. Grant accidentally revealed he was a traitor on a radio appearance before the first episode aired, and the cast were warned they could face a £100,000 fine for leaking secrets early.
Appearing on Romesh's BBC Radio 2 show this morning, joined by finalists Kenny and Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, the duo said they had recently risked revealing the outcome at a dinner in central London.
Panic at the restaurant
Sebastian said: 'I woke up with a light sense that I don't have to keep this secret anymore – it's been killing me.' Romesh added: 'Bash and I met for dinner a couple of weeks ago or something.' Sebastian elaborated: 'We were in central London having dinner and we're not exactly a likely duo and the whole restaurant were like... we love you guys on traitors – hope you win!'
Romesh joked he panicked and told diners: 'Well don't draw any conclusions from this dinner!'
Viewers react
Fortunately, everyone kept quiet, and more than 11 million people watched the victory without spoilers. One fan wrote on X: 'Although I am usually Team Traitor, I am SO GLAD Bash and Romesh won! Well well well deserved!' Another shared: 'I've got tears in my eyes. The perfect two to win. Love the love between Romesh and Bash.'
After the win, Sebastian said: 'That was just incredible, this might actually be the best day of my life.' Romesh added: 'I just really hope my mum's proud, and also my youngest son Charlie, who wanted me to come on the show. Dad won, please show me some respect.'
Celebrity Traitors series 2 is available to stream in full on BBC iPlayer.
