Traitors Final Beats Alan Carr Record With 11.2m Viewers

The Celebrity Traitors series two finale became the most-watched episode of the celebrity spin-off to date, drawing an average overnight audience of 11.2million viewers and surpassing the record set by last year's final won by comedian Alan Carr.

The 80-minute episode, broadcast on BBC One on October 30, saw Faithfuls Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft win a prize pot of £83,000 for their chosen charities. According to the BBC, the audience peaked at 11.6million, the highest of the series.

Record-Breaking Audience

The series two finale recorded a higher average live audience than last year's final, which brought in 11.1million viewers overnight. However, it remains to be seen if the finale can fully triumph over the first series, which reportedly peaked at 15.4million viewers combining live and catch-up audiences.

While some viewers had mixed reviews of the series, the finale's figures officially made it the most-watched episode of the celebrity edition to date.

Chaotic Final Roundtable

The final was marked by chaos. Following James Acaster's admission to being a Traitor in the ninth episode on October 29, surviving Traitors Maya Jama and King Kenny found themselves under pressure.

After the murder of actor Michael Sheen and the banishment of original Traitor Maya, the remaining contestants headed to the final roundtable. This included Leigh-Anne Pinnock, James Blunt, Romesh Ranganathan, Sebastian Croft and Kenny.

After Leigh-Anne was voted off, many viewers thought the Traitors might still win. Kenny, being the only player not to vote for another banishment, found himself against James in a split vote. He was then banished by Romesh and Sebastian following a re-vote.

Faithfuls Split the Prize

Although it was clear the Faithfuls had won, James decided to go through with another banishment, which left him leaving the roundtable when victory was within reach. In the end, Sebastian and Romesh split the £83,000 prize pot.

The Heartstopper star revealed he would give his £41,500 share to the charity Choose Love, while the comedian donated his winnings to the Refugee Council. Speaking on his BBC Radio 2 show, Romesh admitted he may not have been the best player, saying: "I know this sounds like faux humility, it's such a thin line between a great game and a terrible game as a faithful."

Both the civilian and celebrity editions of the Traitors have seen success this year, with the most recent civilian series in January bringing in a peak audience of 9.6million for its final.
