Celebrity Traitors fans are convinced producers were forced to alter a key element of the BBC show after a chaotic twist in the latest mission. During the daily task, the celebrities worked together to raise money for the prize fund, with one person set to receive a special power.
In an ironic turn, the Faithfuls selected all three Traitors — Maya Jama, King Kenny and James Acaster — as the most trustworthy, granting them the power. The trio then decided that Kenny should hold the Dagger, a double vote, which led to a tie at the roundtable and forced a re-vote. Viewers are still waiting to learn whether Faithfuls Sharon or Joanne will be the next to leave.
Fans speculate on the original power
One fan theorised on Reddit: "I think the faithful picking the three traitors sparked both immediate chaos as they had to scramble to change the power to something that made sense." Another suggested the intended power might have been the Seer, a role from previous series, saying: "If it was intended to be the Seer power I’d have preferred them to roll with it to be honest. It would’ve been interesting to hear the traitors strategise about how to use it."
Another viewer pointed to a power used in the North American version, called the "power of pardon," which would allow a player to save someone from banishment. The fan explained: "But then all three traitors got voted so they pivoted to the dagger. The pardon wouldn't work because no traitor would use it so no suspense."
What happens next
Some fans also believed the original power could have been the ability to ask the Traitors a question, as seen in the fourth civilian series with Faithfuls Harriet and Matt and Traitor Rachel. The Traitors returns tomorrow night, when the roundtable banishment will be revealed and viewers will see if all three Traitors can reach the final.
