The second season of Liverpool crime drama This City is Ours ends with several major deaths, including new antagonist Felipe (Álvaro Morte), Ozzie Thompson (Shaun Evans), Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean) and Rachel Duffy (Laura Aikman). The eight episodes are available to stream on BBC iPlayer, with weekly broadcasts on BBC One.
Felipe's revenge and death
In the finale, Felipe deliberately stabbed himself with Diana's (Hannah Onslow) knife, waiting for Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) to find him as part of his plan. Felipe revealed that Michael had killed his lover, Luis, in a show of loyalty to Felipe's brother, Ricardo (Daniel Cerqueira).
Holding Diana hostage, Felipe aimed to provoke Michael into doing something unforgivable. Before dying from his own stab wound, Felipe warned Michael: "Welcome to winter," suggesting Michael will face a cold and lonely life. Diana began to realise she had no chance of pulling Michael away from his life of crime, and the pair's romance seemed to be ending.
Ozzie Thompson's comeuppance
New antagonist Ozzie got his comeuppance at the end of the series after it was discovered he had manipulated troubled youth Freddie (Adam Abbou) into killing Rachel Duffy. Freddie gave himself up to the police.
As part of the new Firm, Michael, Jamie (Jack McMullen), Bobby (Kevin Harvey) and Banksey (Mike Noble) killed Ozzie by shooting him four times – one bullet each.
Ronnie Phelan's demise
Sean Bean's character Ronnie met his demise early in the season at the hands of Michael, one of his most trusted confidantes. While in Spain, Michael stabbed Ronnie at his mansion, showing no hesitation despite Diana trying to talk him out of it.
The twist stemmed from Ronnie's previous actions after he shot Davey Crawford (Stephen Walters) dead. Davey had exposed Jamie's secret drug trade, and Ronnie killed him out of fear that Michael would find out too much about Jamie. This proved to Michael that Ronnie would always be biased in favour of his son, and realising Jamie would be chosen as Ronnie's successor over him, Michael decided to remove Ronnie from the picture altogether.
This City is Ours is on BBC iPlayer, with episodes also airing weekly on BBC One on Sundays and Mondays.
