Who writes This City Is Ours?

This City Is Ours is written by Stephen Butchard. His previous credits include the historical drama The Last Kingdom and the Disney+ Mafia drama The Good Mothers.

Teasing the forthcoming series, Stephen said: "A major theme this series is consequences – for every action, there is a reaction – the problem is that some reactions are predictable, but most are not. An action can quite often be considered as a domino – it topples, but that is the beginning and not the end. Again, we explore the delicious human emotions and truth of love, desire, greed, fear, anger, betrayal and the need for status and power."

What happens in This City Is Ours season 2?

The BBC previously revealed: "Picking up from where things were left at the end of series one, Michael and Diana have barely arrived in Spain when they are dragged back into the fold to answer questions around Ricardo's death. Back in Liverpool, tensions continue to bubble amongst the remaining members of the gang. Meanwhile, an old school gangster from Ronnie's era, recently out of prison, wants compensation from the firm."

Ahead of series two, James Nelson-Joyce teased: "At the end of the first series Michael had decided that he wanted to choose a life with Diana, and they left for Spain. At the beginning of series two, that's where we find them, in Happy Town, and it's picture-perfect. Then something happens that drags Michael back to Liverpool, and once again, he has to choose between Diana and his other life - he's a complex mix of ruthless and vulnerable."

Viewers will recall the battle for supremacy between Jamie Phelan and Michael Kavanagh following Ronnie Phelan's death. Jamie eventually seized power while Michael chose a different path.

Is there a This City Is Ours season 2 trailer?

The BBC has released a trailer offering a preview of the new series. The broadcaster announced: "Seen for the first time in the newly released trailer are new cast members Shaun Evans (Until I Kill You, Endeavour) as former gangster Ozzie Thompson, recently out of prison, and Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, Immaculate, The Wheel of Time) as Felipe Guzman, member of the Colombian cartel and younger brother of Ricardo, who was murdered at the end of the first series."

The trailer shows Michael telling Diana: "It's all about us now babe, we look ahead." When asked if he was happy, he replied: "Yeah, I'm happy." One viewer wrote: "Man, had no idea there would be a Season 2. I assumed it was just a miniseries. What a treat! This is great news. Most overlooked show in recent years." Another added: "Best show on TV, looks as good as the first series", while a further comment read: "Best BBC drama for years and years."
