Paapa Essiedu is set to reprise his role as Isaac Turner in the third series of the BBC thriller The Capture, alongside Holliday Grainger who returns as Rachel Carey. The BBC has released new images from the upcoming series, which also introduces several new cast members.
Joining the series are Indira Varma as BBC News presenter Khadija Khan, Hugh Quarshie as Commissioner Cameron Yates, Linus Roache as Colonel Figgis, and Ron Perlman as CIA agent Frank Napier. Returning cast includes Ben Miles as Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay as DSI Tom Kendricks, Tessa Wong as DC Chloe Tan, Daisy Waterstone as Abigail Carey, and Andy Nyman as Sir Rowan Gill. New faces include Killian Scott, Jonathan Aris, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew.
The third series picks up 12 months after the events of series two, where Rachel Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister, exposing the clandestine video manipulation programme Correction. Now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, Carey is determined to restore public trust through the new Operation Veritas camera system. However, a brutal and well-coordinated act of terror targeting the British establishment leaves behind a single witness, drawing Carey into a geopolitical crisis that threatens the political establishment, security services, and media.
Created and written by BAFTA-winning Ben Chanan, the series is produced by Heyday Television, part of Universal International Studios. It is directed by Anthony Philipson, Johnny Allan, and Ben Chanan, and produced by Derek Ritchie. Executive producers include David Heyman, Rosie Alison, Sue Gibbs, Tom Coan, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ben Chanan. The six-episode series will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One this spring, with further broadcast details to be announced.
