Fans of Amazon Prime Video's 'The Boys' have been left stunned by an apparent reference to the Sean 'Diddy' Combs scandal in the latest episode of the show's fifth and final season. The satirical superhero series appears to have taken a swipe at the disgraced music mogul, who was found guilty last year on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution.
During Combs' trial, it emerged that he hosted sex parties allegedly involving the use of baby oil. In episode five of 'The Boys', a scene set in a mansion's trophy room features bottles of baby oil labelled 'Puff Baby', a clear nod to Combs' former stage name 'Puff Daddy'. The room is covered in the oil, prompting viewers to draw comparisons on social media.
The episode sees Homelander (Antony Starr) and Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) pursuing a lead connected to a powerful V-related substance, which brings them to former Seven member Mr. Marathon (Jared Padalecki) in Los Angeles. The group becomes embroiled in a poker game that turns out to be a trap, orchestrated by Mr. Marathon and Malchemical (Misha Collins) in an attempt to bring down Homelander.
After a fight erupts, the chaos spills into the baby oil-covered trophy room. Fans took to social media to express their amusement, with one writing: 'Did The Boys really just reference Diddy??????' Another added: 'Homelander reaction after seeing hundreds of baby oil in Mister Marathon house (laughing emoji).'
'The Boys' Season 5 is available to stream on Prime Video, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
