Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan has shared his views on the Icons Week dance-off, saying the right couple was eliminated and that one celebrity was over-marked by the judges.
Sarah Storey and Bethany Antonia found themselves in the bottom two during the results show on October 18, after failing to secure enough public votes. Both performed their routines again for the judges, who unanimously chose to save Bethany, ending Sarah's time on the show.
Jordan's Verdict on the Dance-Off
James Jordan, who appeared on the BBC show for eight series, said he wasn't surprised by the outcome. Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, he said: "The right person went. I thought it was terrible. I didn't think it was a good dance. I'm not shocked that they were in the bottom two, and I wasn't shocked that the two girls were in the bottom two either. I gave Bethany and Nancy a six, and I gave Sarah and Julian's tango a three. So yes, for me, the right people went, definitely."
Jordan also suggested that Dani Dyer and her partner Nikita Kuzmin were "overmarked", adding: "There's no way that, at this stage of the competition, they were going to be in there, because they're going to have a big following."
Over-Marking Claims
During Icons Week, content creator Cach delivered a Foxtrot, scoring 34, the highest mark of the competition so far. The 25-year-old has faced criticism throughout the series for incorporating street dance elements into his routines.
While Jordan commended his performance, noting Cach did "a really good job", he remained convinced the score was unwarranted. He said: "He was way over-marked, though, in my opinion, because I didn't see one heel lead. His legs were not good at all, and the judges said they were, which is wrong. He was over-marked."
Despite this, Jordan added: "Having said that, I still loved it. I love the fact that he came out and did that, and I'm honest enough to say I really enjoyed the dance and thought he did a brilliant job. I much preferred him going down that route of doing traditional ballroom and Latin. But he was still over-marked by the judges."
Upcoming Performances
It has been confirmed that Cach will perform a Cha Cha to Maneskin's track Beggin' this week. He is not the only celebrity taking on this dance style, as Will Best will also perform a Cha Cha to Della Reese's track Daddy.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One from 6:30pm.
