Strictly Come Dancing judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse have no plans to leave the show, according to a show insider, despite reports of backstage fears over their future.
Reports of uncertainty
There were reportedly concerns that the beloved judges could step away from the show at the end of this series. The Sun reported that Anton du Beke and Craig Revel-Horwood have told bosses they are returning and have pencilled next year's live shows into their diaries, meaning their other work commitments would have to work around them.
The Sun claimed that while Anton and Craig were in, "Motsi and Shirley are yet to make up their minds." A source said: "Shirley in particular could be a flight risk for bosses — especially if her guest appearance on Dancing With The Stars goes well."
Insider denies exit plans
However, a show insider has told Express.co.uk that Shirley and Motsi have no plans to leave. They said: "Staff backstage have been very confused about where these stories are coming from. Anton and Craig are signed up for theatre productions next year, and have therefore let them know they will be unavailable on Saturdays when the show is filming. Shirley and Motsi don't have theatre jobs next year, and so don't have the same issue, and that's all there is to it."
All of the stars are not expected to sign their contracts for the following season until the 2026 series is wrapped. A representative for Strictly has been contacted by Express.co.uk.
Presenter line-up speculation
It comes as the Daily Mail reported that bosses are considering replacing Josh Widdicombe as they are planning to "try again" with the presenting line-up, consisting of Josh, Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe.
A source told the publication: "It's like those choosing were trying to be kooky and cool, and they saw something that might appeal to young people. But, it should be slicker, in the view of many at the top of the BBC, so there are changes afoot."
"There were so many brilliant presenters to choose from – Zoe Ball and Rylan Clark, for example – but they went for this lot. Emma's position as host could remain, but Josh's is in doubt."
However, a spokesperson for the show told Express.co.uk: "This is pure and utter speculation."
