Strictly fans split over Halloween Week song choices

Strictly Come Dancing fans have found themselves split as the initial five musical selections and performances for Halloween Week are unveiled. The clock is ticking as the eeriest evening of the year approaches and devotees of the BBC programme have been offered a glimpse of what awaits them this weekend.

After Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr's departure on Sunday (October 25) night, the 10 remaining partnerships are determined to wow audiences tuning in from home alongside the judging panel of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse.

Song and Dance Reveals

Delta Goodrem and Will Best both featured on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two together on Tuesday (October 27) evening to reveal to presenter Ellie Taylor particulars of their forthcoming routines.

Delta disclosed that she'll be performing a Viennese Waltz with professional partner Kai Widdrington to Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers and Will revealed he's paying tribute to his Big Brother presenting duties by delivering a Couples Choice to Nu Flow by Big Brovaz alongside partner Dianne Buswell.

Further details regarding Halloween week were subsequently posted on Strictly's official Instagram account with Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu dancing a Salsa to Filty/Gorgeous by Scissor Sisters, Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita executing a Quickstep to Little Mix's hit Black Magic and Graeme Hall and Katya Jones dancing a Samba to Coconut by Harry Nilson.

Fan Reactions

Taking to the comment section beneath the Instagram post, one fan penned: "Since when is Black Magic a quickstep song?" A second person added: "How can you salsa to Scissor Sisters?" A third said: "How is any of these songs apart from Black Magic Halloween?" A fourth asked: "It is Halloween week isn't it?", reports Wales Online.

Nevertheless, some supporters were quick to rally behind the show. Someone else wrote: "Can we quit these sort of comments every single week people say this and get proven wrong just wait and see." Another added: "So here for Scissor Sisters." A third wrote: "Nu Flow! Old school banger."

Exit Interview

Former footballer Shaun and his professional partner Alexis appeared on It Takes Two on Monday (October 26) to talk about their exit from the competition. It marked the second occasion in the series that the pair had landed in the dance-off, but, in his first chat since leaving the show, Shaun has admitted he saw it coming.

Talking to host Ellie, when quizzed on how he felt upon learning he was in the bottom two once again, he said: "I kind of knew. In my head I kind of knew so mentally I was already preparing myself from that moment.

"As soon as we got into that room in the back, I was visualising straight away. We were running the steps where I made the mistakes and once again I was doing them fine so that confused me to the point where I knew them but I still made the mistake."

It was at this point that Alexis stepped in to demonstrate she remains wholly supportive of her former dance partner. She said: "That happens. I think... I want him to give himself grace for that because that's sometimes just what happens on the floor and with everything.

"Sometimes things don't always make sense but even when he did mess up, he kept pushing and he ended strong. He always kept pushing. He's a fighter, from day one until now. He just has that fight in him, that spirit."

Strictly Come Dancing continue Saturday, October 31 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 6.30pm.
