Stephen Graham, the acclaimed actor who won a Golden Globe for his role in Netflix's Adolescence, is set to play a sinister serial killer in Apple TV's upcoming crime thriller Nocturne. The 10-part drama is based on Lars Kepler's best-selling novels Lazarus and The Sandman and will premiere on Friday, October 30.
Star-Studded Cast and Plot
Graham stars opposite Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) and Zazie Beetz (Joker) in what is described as a "riveting" thriller. The official synopsis reveals: "Nocturne tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear."
The plot thickens when Jonah's surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), is sent to confront Jurek, forcing Jonah to question how far he will go to save his family.
Release Schedule
Only the first two episodes will be released on October 30, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly. The grand finale is scheduled for Friday, December 25. The ensemble cast also includes Bill Camp (The Queen's Gambit), Chrissy Metz (This is Us), and Rory Culkin (Lord of Chaos).
Graham's portrayal of Jurek Walter marks a departure from his role in Adolescence, where he played a father grappling with his son's involvement in a crime. In Nocturne, viewers will see his "sinister side" as he embodies a "diabolically cunning serial killer." The series promises to be a gripping addition to the crime drama genre, appealing to fans of Adolescence and Kepler's novels.
