Ruth Langsford has been urged to sign up for a popular dating show, two years after her split from Eamonn Holmes. On the current series of Celebs Go Dating, the Loose Women star's friend and colleague Coleen Nolan is on a quest to find love after being single for three years.
Ruth found herself in the same position for the first time in more than two decades in 2024, following her shock split from Eamonn Holmes. The former couple were married for 14 years after tying the knot in 2010, and together they share their 23-year-old son, Jack.
In recent interviews, Ruth has revealed she is open to finding love again, though she has ruled out using dating apps. Following her admission, Celebs Go Dating dating expert Anna Williamson suggested Ruth would be the perfect fit for the show.
"I think Ruth Langsford, if she fancies coming into our little agency, that would be great," she told Best Magazine. "And I believe that Coleen has recommended to Ruth to come and join the agency. I think she'd be great."
Speaking recently on Heart Radio, the former This Morning star said she hopes a new romance will happen naturally. "I want to do it the old-fashioned way," she told hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston. "You know, that I might just walk out of here, bump into somebody and go 'Oh sorry' and then find myself having a coffee with them. I don't know, but I won't be swiping anyone."
Opening up about her split from Eamonn in an interview earlier this year, Ruth admitted she was blindsided and "broken" by their separation. The 66-year-old told the Daily Mail: "In my opinion, I had a very happy marriage. Of course you question yourself: did I miss something, was I not aware, was I too busy? But there's no point playing the blame game."
"I just didn't think I'd find myself here, and I wasn't strong at the start," she added. "I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams. We all have an image of how we think our life and future is going to be. This wasn't mine."
Ruth went on to say she was "devastated" by the "abrupt end" of the relationship and credited her friends and therapy with helping her through the difficult time. "Girlfriends are there for you come what may, but I needed a trained counsellor, someone who didn't know me, to help me see the way through all the darkness," she added. "I had many happy years with Eamonn. It just didn't last. Now I have to look forward."
Eamonn, who also has three grown-up children with his first wife, went public with his relationship with Katie Alexander in the latter part of 2024, and the couple remain together.
