Romola Garai's Husband Sam Hoare Is a Famous Actor Too

Romola Garai, who plays Beth Brookes in ITV's new drama Adultery, has been married to actor Sam Hoare since 2014. Hoare has appeared in Outlander, Captain America and The Golden Compass.

A Marriage Away From the Spotlight

The six-part series follows two people, both married to their own partners, who struggle with their desires for one another. Garai is joined by Dominic Cooper, who plays Tom Kirkman, the man Beth becomes attracted to. The synopsis describes the show as "a provocative love story of passion, parenthood and peril that raises questions about class, grief and the effects of social media."

Beyond her role in the ITV series, Garai is not the only person in her family in the public eye. She married Hoare in 2014, and the couple share two children.

Sam Hoare's Acting Career

Hoare is recognised for his part alongside Matt Smith in BBC One's Bert and Dickie, playing Dickie Burnell. He has also featured in blockbuster movies Captain America and The Golden Compass. Most recently, he portrayed ACC Cassian Pewe in ITV's Grace, Mr Kelly in Playing Nice and Lord Hal Melton in Outlander.

He also appeared in Death in Paradise during its seventh season as Daniel Friend, who operated a spiritual retreat on the fictional island of Saint Marie. Hoare is also skilled behind the camera, having written, directed and produced the film Having You, which premiered on Sky Movies in 2013.

Garai's Tribute to Her Husband

In 2015, Garai honoured her husband while accepting her Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Taking to the stage, she said: "I'd like to dedicate this award, if I can, to my husband, Sam. He's here tonight. I was only able to do these two plays because he supported me so much and wanted me to do them and made it happen, so thank you so much sweetheart."

Adultery is available to watch on ITVX.
