Marcus Rashford could be in for a swift reunion with familiar faces if he completes a permanent move to Barcelona this summer. The Catalan club has announced plans to hold part of their pre-season training at St. George's Park, the home of England's national team, from July 27 to August 3. This could see the Manchester United forward bump into several England teammates if his transfer is finalized by then.
Barcelona's pre-season plans
Barcelona will spend a week at St. George's Park, a facility they previously used in 2014 and 2016. The club released a statement on their website confirming the schedule: "The start of 2026/27 preseason is now mapped out for the FC Barcelona first team. Hansi Flick's side are set to return to work on July 13 with the usual medical check-ups and physical tests. The team will begin training at the Ciutat Esportiva and there will be a preseason stage in England. From July 27 to August 3, the blaugranes will be at St George's Park, one of the main centres for football in England and a regular base for the England national team."
Rashford's future uncertain
Rashford's future remains undecided after an impressive loan spell at Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 games. The England international has expressed a desire to stay permanently, but Barcelona has yet to meet Manchester United's £26 million asking price. Reports suggest the Spaniards want to negotiate a lower fee, but United are holding firm.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has praised Rashford's contributions and has reportedly urged the club to secure a deal. However, the situation is complicated by Barcelona's recent acquisition of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon for £70 million, which demonstrates their financial capability and adds competition for Rashford's preferred left-wing position.
Rashford's comments on staying
Rashford has been open about his desire to remain at Camp Nou. After scoring against Real Madrid in El Clasico last month to help clinch La Liga, he said: "I don't know. I am not a magician, but if I was, I would stay. So we will see." The 28-year-old is currently away at the 2026 World Cup, but a swift transfer could see him reunite with his national team colleagues during Barcelona's pre-season camp.
