Peep Show Cast Reunites for Bake Off Christmas Special After 10 Years
Peep Show cast reunites for Bake Off Christmas special

In a television event that will delight fans, the iconic cast of the cult comedy Peep Show is reuniting for the first time in ten years. The stars are trading their Croydon flat for the iconic white tent in a one-off Christmas special titled The Great Peep Show Christmas Bake Off.

A Festive Baking Challenge

The special will see actors David Mitchell, Olivia Colman, Issy Suttie, Matt King, and Sophie Winkleman don elaborate Christmas jumpers and attempt to prove their baking prowess. Their culinary creations will be judged by the formidable duo of Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

As the bakers whisk and knead their way through the challenges, hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will be on hand to provide their unique brand of festive fun and commentary. The episode promises to blend the awkward humour of Peep Show with the high-stakes drama of the baking competition.

A Notable Absence from the Line-Up

However, fans will notice one key cast member is missing. Robert Webb, who played the feckless Jeremy 'Jez' Usbourne, will not be participating. The reason for his absence remains officially unknown.

This does not appear to signal any rift with his former co-stars, particularly David Mitchell. The pair have recently collaborated on the new television show Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, and previously starred together in the sketch series That Mitchell and Webb Look from 2006 to 2010.

The Legacy of Peep Show

Peep Show first aired on Channel 4 in 2003 and quickly became a fan favourite, running for nine series until its final episode in 2015. The show was celebrated for its unique internal monologue perspective, following the lives of Mark Corrigan (Mitchell) and Jeremy Usbourne (Webb).

Reflecting on the end of the era, co-creator Sam Bain told Radio Times in 2015 about the challenges of writing the final series after a three-year gap. Co-creator Jesse Armstrong added that there was always pressure to make each series good, a standard they hope this festive special will live up to.

This unique crossover event marks a long-awaited return for the beloved characters and actors, offering a fresh and festive take on a British comedy classic.
